Last Chance to Catch Captain Don Dingman’s Kid’s Fishing Clinic at Suncoast Boat Show Until Fall

Carolina Skiff Pro Staff and renown sport fisherman Captain Don Dingman is hosting his final spring Kid’s Fishing Clinic at the upcoming Suncoast Boat Show, which is taking place April 26 through 28 in Sarasota, Florida.

Dingman, who also hosts the popular kid’s fishing show “Hook The Future,” which airs on The Sportsman Channel and YouTube, is slated to do four Kid’s Fishing Clinics during the boat show – two on Saturday, April 27 at 12 and 2 p.m. and two on Sunday, April 28 at 1 and 3 p.m.

The clinics are open to all children ages 4 to 16, their parents and features marine life experts teaching kids basic fishing techniques. During the presentation, which is proudly sponsored by Carolina Skiff, kids in attendance get the chance to meet Dingman and participate in various aspects of the clinic, such as holding a rod or interacting with his array of fake fish. Some participants may even win a prize.

At the conclusion of each clinic, Dingman gives all kids in attendance a free fishing rod.

Dingman started both “Hook The Future” and his Kid’s Fishing Clinics after his son, Brian, passed away at age 22 in 2004.

“This inspired Don to produce this program to show other parents how important it is spend quality time with their own kids,” Dingman’s Website explains. “Going out fishing three times a month with his own dad, Don learned how precious that parent/child connection is, and how the best way to teach a kid to do something is to simply let him do it.”

In addition to helping foster a love of fishing in kids, Dingman encourages parents to let their children be more involved in the entire fishing and boating process, including allowing them to safely drive the boat and fight the fish when reeling it in.

“Give them a hand [and] just help them, [but] don’t go through them,” Dingman said in a recent article on carolinaskiff.com. “It’s not your fish, dad.”

For kids and parents who can’t make the Suncoast Boat Show but want to attend Dingman’s Kid’s Fishing Clinic, don’t fret! Dingman is slated to host clinics in the fall at upcoming boat shows, including but not limited to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and the Tampa Boat Show.

Additionally, kids and parents can learn all about fishing from Dingman’s popular showHook The Future.
